Lottery Award

Lottery Award Awards for All Scotland (AFA) is supported by the Scottish Arts Council, the Heritage Lottery Fund, Sportscotland and the Big Lottery Fund.
AFA award grants of between £500 and £10,000 for people to take part in art, sport, heritage and community activities, and projects that promote education, the environment and health in the local community.
The River Spey Anglers Association received a grant of £5000 from Awards for All in 2003 to meet the costs associated with setting up the new organisation and for creating a professional web presence.
The money was well used and in 2006 RSAA was awarded a second grant from Awards for All of £5000 to assist the River Spey Research Trust to carry out a project to learn more about brown trout and sea trout stocks in the River Spey and its tributaries. There is an information page about the Trout Tagging project on this website.

McDonald's - Elgin

McDonald's - Elgin Derrik Smith, himself a keen River Spey angler, and a member of RSAA, was delighted to support RSAA with a commercial sponsorship from his McDonalds Restaurant franchise in Elgin for £1000 in early 2006 to support the thriving Junior Section of the RSAA. The money was used to purchase life jackets for the protection of the young people whilst taking part in RSAA organised outings. Several outings are organised each year and these are subsidised from RSAA funds. Details of the outings held can be found on the Junior Section page of the website and photos taken at these outings can be found in the Photo Galleries.

2007

McDonalds of Elgin have kindly provided a second sponsorship of £1000 to RSAA to support our youth development programme. This sponsorship has been matched by a second Sportsmatch grant of similar amount. The money will be used to provide dedicated one to one coaching lessons for existing and new members as well as angling tuition coaching for committee and volunteers. Our thanks go to Derrik Smith for his additional support for RSAA.

Other Sponsorship

Other Sponsorship The RSAA has been very fortunate to receive some extremely generous anonymous sponsorship from a local individual interested in seeing the Junior Section of the RSAA flourish. We are extremely grateful to this individual for their generous support. Money from this sponsorship regularly funds the cost of fishing for the juniors at various venues organised by the Association. A thousand thanks for this valuable and generous support.

General Gordon Lennox recently donated £500 to the Association which was used to purchase wading sticks and some lifejackets for the juniors with some funding also provided for coaching.

*************************************************************

Many members of RSAA give generous donations at the time of payment of their annual subscriptions to RSAA. This helps to fund our work particularly with the young members whom we are keen to encourage and coach in the art of angling. Sincere thanks to all our members who support us in this way.
